Auto pilot NAVIMPULSE

An autopilot that will change your life on board! Enjoy your voyages by letting the autopilot take the helm.

This tiller steering system is designed for boats up to 11 meters in length and weighing up to 6 metric tons. It consists primarily of two components: the control unit (the computer) and the actuator.

Boitier Navimpulse

The Computer

This is the heart of the system. It incorporates the control algorithms and operates autonomously with its 9-axis inertial sensor, which continuously monitors heading and pitch to adjust the control inputs. This sensor calibrates itself automatically.

If you have your own jack, you can keep it; the controller will adapt to it.

The actuator

Its 200- or 250-mm stroke is suitable for all types of boats. It can be mounted on a bulkhead or a beam—whether lateral or longitudinal to the tiller axis—without any restrictions regarding perpendicularity or angle relative to the tiller. It is IP65-rated (meaning it is protected against dust and water jets from all directions).

This driver is self-contained and requires no additional screen or hardware. You can also control it either using an app on your Android phone or tablet (via Bluetooth, which uses minimal power), through your web browser using any device connected to the driver via Wi-Fi (no data usage), or with any remote control (using the EV1527 standard).

-> Access via a web browser on any device:

  • Control from any onboard screen without installing any apps
  • On / Off
  • Steering +1 / -1 / +10 / -10
  • Automatic tack
  • Access to the autopilot’s internal settings
  • Multiple devices can control the autopilot

-> Access via the app on an Android phone or tablet:

  • ON/OFF control, +1 / -1 / +10 / -10
  • Access to “GPS control” or “tracking” mode using the tablet’s or phone’s internal GPS
  • Waypoint list
  • Display of onboard instrument data (if they transmit via Wi-Fi)
  • Access to the autopilot’s internal settings
  • Use of the device for other applications (weather, route planning, etc.)

The phone/tablet app is free and can be downloaded to your Android device here.

-> Access via a remote control

  • On / Off
  • Control +1 / -1 / +10 / -10
  • Adapt the controller to your existing remote control that complies with the EV1527 standard, 433 MHz

Possible (optional) extensions:

The system is also fully scalable: You can connect your existing devices on the boat via Wi-Fi so they can communicate with the autopilot. This allows you, for example, to take advantage of additional modes, such as:

  • Wind Mode: Tracks the angle relative to the wind (using a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi anemometer with a wind vane)
  • GPS Mode (tracking): Tracks a waypoint (using the tablet’s or phone’s GPS or Wi-Fi)

Finally, the computer can also be controlled via your Garmin smartwatch. This also allows you to take advantage of the MOB (Man Overboard) feature. The system monitors the connection in real time, and if the connection is lost, it triggers an alarm, records the GPS position, and turns the boat into the wind.
