ROUTING

“I’d really like some onshore support during this delivery run.”
“I’m setting out on a solo trip, but it would be reassuring to check in along the way during the first few days.”
“I’m heading out on a long crewed cruise, and some assistance would be welcome—I’m looking more for comfort.”

Each service is tailored to your needs. You decide what you want: the fastest route, the most comfortable route, or the safest route.

The measures implemented are as follows:

  • Various sources of weather data (GRIB files, isobaric charts)
  • GRIB files from various models (atmospheric, wave, current, global, regional, local) containing all types of data (winds, gusts, CAPE, precipitation, etc.)
  • High-performance routing software (qtVlm)
  • Communication channels (WhatsApp, text messages, phone, email, FaceTime, video chat)

A preliminary meeting—ideally via video call—is necessary so we can get to know each other, clarify the boat’s specifications, your goals, the available communication channels, the frequency of communication, and so on. Having support is also a matter of trust (=> About Us).

Following this meeting, we work together to define the scope of the service and formalize how we will proceed. This results in a document that serves as the basis for a contract.

The service may consist of several components:

A – Advance planning (4 days before, 3 days before) to map out several possible routes, discuss early weather trends, and decide on possible options.

B – A pre-departure briefing via video conference with screen sharing (one day before or on the day of departure) to present, using a summary document, the departure window, various route options (waypoints, flight plan, etc.), the general conditions expected, specific points requiring attention, emergency advisories for the areas, etc.

C – Monitoring at sea: to track changes in weather conditions and reassess and adjust the route; to review forecasts for the next 24 hours (TWS, gusts, TWD); to accommodate the crew’s needs; to avoid high-risk areas; and to serve as a liaison with loved ones back on shore…
